Introduction

This is an excerpt from Delightful Sites — a weekly email series helping therapists, coaches, and entrepreneurs build sustainable, values-aligned businesses, through the power of website marketing. 💐

When most people think about marketing, they think of it as:

a chore
a bore
an annoyance
a series of to-do items that you have to drag yourself through

But what if we looked at marketing as an ecosystem?

In an ecosystem, different components work in harmony & coordination with each other.

🌱 At the center of your marketing ecosystem is your website – this is where people go to learn about your services & contact you. As the online home for your business, a quality website is a non-negotiable.

Other parts of your marketing ecosystem might include: social media, blogging for SEO, YouTube videos, email newsletters, speaking engagements, community networking, podcasts, ads, or directories like PsychToday.

☝🏽 Don’t worry, you don’t have to do all these things! I would just pick a few things that you enjoy & that you can invest time/energy in doing well.

(In case you’re curious: currently, the marketing ecosystem for my private practice looks like: SEO + podcasting + email newsletters. I genuinely enjoy these activities, & that’s what makes them sustainable - and even joyful - for me!)

The way I see it, your marketing ecosystem has 1 main goal: direct people to your website.

👉🏽 When you meet someone at a networking event, you hand them a business card with your website link on it. In the future, when they hopefully refer folks to you, they will send clients a link to your website.

👉🏽 When you respond to a referral request on Facebook, you share a link to your website.

👉🏽 When you post on social media, the ultimate goal is to get people to contact you off the app - by booking a free consult at the link in your bio. The social media post provides a window for them to peek through – and your website is the room where they walk in, sit down, & actually get to know you.

When it comes to your marketing ecosystem, all roads lead to your website.

Which means: a quality website matters, and it’s important to tend to all parts of the ecosystem - because every component depends on the other.

How are you tending to your ecosystem this season?

Talk again soon,
