Confidence = The Secret Ingredient of Websites that Convert into Ideal Clients

Introduction

This is an excerpt from Delightful Sites — a weekly email series helping therapists, coaches, and entrepreneurs build sustainable, values-aligned businesses, through the power of website marketing. 💐

Something fun happened this week: I had an impromptu iPhone photo shoot in the forest, with a dear friend who’s visiting me in Oregon… and I ended up with lovely new headshots for my therapy website.

It was about time – the last time I had updated my headshots was 3 years ago, and I look & feel quite different from the person I was then.

📸 After I updated my website with the new photos, I felt a wave of confidence wash over me. I love the new headshots (my friend did a great job, helping me find poses & good lighting, while making me laugh & smile the whole time). The photos make me feel great about myself, my work, and my website.

This type of confidence is invaluable.

As business owners, when we feel confident about our websites, we are more likely to…

💐 feel excited to share it with people (instead of cringing and secretly hoping that no one looks)

💐 talk more confidently about our work when people ask, what do you do?

💐 truly believe in the quality of our services (goodbye, imposter syndrome) – and allow pricing to reflect the value of our work

There’s also the ripple effect where your clients feel & sense your increased confidence - which may lead to higher conversion rates when folks reach out to work with you; as well as improved client outcomes when you bring this energy to sessions & show up as your most confident therapist/coach/healer self.

In my case this week, my confidence boost was the result of my new headshots.

For you, a confidence boost might come from something else, like:

👉🏽 editing your website copywriting to speak directly to your niche & own your expertise – instead of tiptoeing around it

👉🏽 choosing a bold color palette to replace the generic one that you started with - because you realize that bold feels more authentic to your personality

👉🏽 making a few strategic tweaks to the content of your website so that it’s more SEO-friendly - aka, discoverable on Google

👉🏽 having a professional web designer & copywriter look over your site and confirm what’s working well and what edits would bring it to the next level (hi, that’s me - I’d be delighted to support you through a website audit, which you can learn more about here)

The point is: your website is the online home for your business; it’s people’s first impression of you & your work.

What would make you feel confident to welcome people into your online home?

To your abundance,

Liz
